About Maine
Despite being the largest state of the New England area, Maine is only the 9th least populous, the 12th smallest, and the most rural of all 50 states. Also known as “the Pine Tree State,” Maine is about 90% forested, which makes it one of the world’s biggest pulp-paper producers. Maine is also famous for its rugged, rocky Atlantic Ocean and Bayshore coastlines, as well as its beautifully curved mountains, dense forests, charming waterways, and delicious seafood cuisine – particularly lobster and clams.
Maine is the easternmost state of the country. At the moment of the first European arrivals, many native populations inhabited these lands. It has been recorded that the first French settlers arrived in 1604. However, mainly because of the rugged climate, only a few English settlements survived into the 18th century. Later, the now-Maine territory was part of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Maine gained statehood on March 15, 1820, and was admitted to the Union as the 23rd state. Augusta is the capital, and Portland is Maine’s largest city.
Superior results through technology
One the greatest challenges today is sourcing capacity that fluctuates with demand in the marketplace. As an intermediary, we carefully consider the qualifications of the truck equipment operators we contract with to service our shipper clients’ needs.
LAST MILE LOGISTICS logisticians rely on their experience and use of proprietary technology to manage and move every shipment. And because shipper clients require a practical risk management approach to doing business, LAST MILE LOGISTICS is one of few brokers that has Primary Truck Broker Liability Insurance ($2 Million policy).
